I ran for council in 2009 to bring a new energy and fresh perspective, and get things done to move Cincinnati forward.

My platform was and still is "Cleaner, Greener & Smarter".

I've accomplished several legislative initiatives in my first term, including creating Mobile Food Vending, Greenarama and Community Entertainment Districts.

I am also proud of my votes to reform the pension system, invest in the streetcar, restore school nurses and reopen city pools.

Key to my success on council, I believe, is my unique background and training as an investigative reporter. My professional skills include excellent communication, persistence and attention to detail. Those skills serve me well getting things done at city hall.

I am married to Cincinnati native Greg Ruthman, who teaches art to students at St. Joseph's on Ezzard Charles Drive. We have a 4 year old son, and a daughter who is a senior this year at Clark Montessori High School, one of our fantastic Cincinnati Public Schools.

I am the oldest of six children and grew up in a small town outside of Toledo. I attended Miami University and studied abroad in Luxembourg, as did my husband.

Greg and I live in Mt. Lookout. We recently built a new LEED Gold home and feel very lucky to be able to stay in the neighborhood we love, in an energy efficient home that allows us to take advantage of the city's progressive property tax break for building green,.

I left my job with the Channel 9 I-Team in 2007, and started by own video production and media consulting business. However, now that I'm on council I have put my business on the back burner in order to give my fulltime attention to the work of city council.

Some of my best known I-Team investigations:

"Mismanagement of Paul Brown Stadium Construction"

"Visions of Vine Street" Documentary in 2001, and

"New Visions of Vine Street" Documentary in 2006.

"Norwood School Spending"

"Lawrenceburg, IN Misuse of Casino Funds"

"Hamilton Co. Engineers Party in Las Vegas"

"Archdiocese Coverup of Sexual Abuse"

"Innocent Man in Prison, Dean Gillipie" ongoing reports

"Purple People Bridge Makeover" ongoing reports
