Letter announcing my intention to run for re-election for Princeton School Board
To my Friends and Supporters:

This is to provide a consistent answer to what many of you have been asking recently ... since your school board term ends this November, do you plan on running for another term?

The short answer is yes. I am proud of what Princeton Schools have achieved the last four years. Princeton has achieved things that some stated where never possible ... Excellent Ratings at our High School, Middle School and four of our elementary schools, and Excellent rating for the Princeton School District. We have incredibly exciting things happening as well: A new middle & high school learning complex is in design. My friends across the state are amazed at Princeton's ability to build this complex at an unbelievably low cost of 2.88 mills. We also have new programs in the pipeline ...Engineering programs in the high school, STEM and 21st Century Skill programs/partnerships and new ways to teach & learn are in development. We have cut costs and developed real plans to address tough financial issues.

The school district has never been:

  • So clear about what it is about (educating with excellence ALL students)
  • So clear about what programs it excels at (academics, arts and athletics)
  • So clear about getting the `value equation' right for students and taxpayers
  • So clear about the need for excellence in leadership and need for proactive change
  • So clear about the huge challenges facing Princeton and public education: TPP funding, cutting costs much further, transforming how we facilitate student learning for the 21/22nd Centuries, involving and communicating with clarity and transparency to ALL stakeholders.

I'll tell you, and I think you will agree, the challenges facing us are arguably the most demanding and important than they have ever been for the Princeton community over the last several decades. The next few years will set the direction and tone for the next couple of decades ‐‐ as we proactively address these issues and create Princeton's future. If we keep our eye on the tasks at hand + fiscal solvency and education innovation + we will get there. I think we have developed a great team at the board level and other leadership positions (Superintendent Dr. Gary Pack, Financial Officer Mr. Jim Rowan, and admin leaders) to do this work.

I am also asked if Sandy Leach and Bob Maine, who are up for re‐election this November if they have decided to run for office again, and indeed they have told me they want to run again to further the work we have started.

So to bring it back around, I am ready to sign up for another four years, to address the challenges. I am excited to be in a position to be a part of this ... if voters in Princeton will have me.

It is too early, yet to start a campaign, but when that time comes, I will highly appreciate your input, participation and support. It is never too early for input or discussion, so feel free to contact me any time. I love talking about our kids and schools.

Cheers, Steve Moore
