Questions & Answers

1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?

Basic and Essential Quality Services for Greenhills: Sound fiscal management of the Village resourses, cash & physical; Quality minded, qualified, ethical employees for public servant positions; Public Safety services - police, fire, paramedic; Building Maintenance & Property Code enforcement; Economic development efforts to recruit new business and new residents to our Greenbelt community; the Public Library serves all ages of inquiring minds; Transportation by Cincinnati Metropolitan Transit; local churches provide enrichment of our faith lives; Good public and private school selections are vital to the youth of our community; Recreational venues for all ages; respect for our Greenbelt, earning Tree City USA endorsement to validate GOOD management of our tree canopy.

2. How would you balance the Village Budget?

Hamilton County Budget Commission FINALLY accepted the 2012 budget on 9/21/2011 following $282,000+ in changes to make it realistic! TO BALANCE FUTURE BUDGETS:

1st Performance Audit should be conducted, starting January 1, 2012 2nd Contract out Building Code enforcement, eliminating a $36,000+/year position. 2nd Cease funding both sides of employee OPERS & Police retirement funds; Cease excessive vacation benefits (3 weeks vacation after 1 year); change bereavment time to 3 days; cease logevity pay 3rd Implement the Best Practices recommended by the performance audit ASAP 4th Pool and Golf Course operations should be contracted out. 5th Village rentals need a total evaluation for condition, rehab needs, market rental rates, background checks on renter applicants, rental rates should be uniform - without discounts. 4th

3. What actions will you take to support clean air?

One of our precious resources that many take for granted is CLEAN AIR. In our greenbelt community we are blessed with nature's air-purifier MANY trees. . Trees Produce Oxygen We could not exist as we do without trees. A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year. I support estabilishing a Tree Commission and development of a Tree Plan for reforestry of our street tree canopy.
