? 1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?

Answer from Alan S. "Buzz" Montague, II:

1.A professional Zoning and Planning department is an essential service for North Bend. This service has a very good track record over the last 15 years and it is critical that we continue to pay close attention to new laws and regulations. It is also important to continue our local control.
2.Street Maintenance is also critical for our citizens. Storm water maintenance is another critical component for our Maintenance department. Curb and gutter maintenance must continue to be a priority to facilitate effective storm water runoff. We must work with other governmental entities to strengthen and improve our storm water drainage. Other street issues include establishing a new street rehabilitation priority list.

? 2. How would you balance the Village Budget?

Answer from Alan S. "Buzz" Montague, II:

State law mandates a balanced budget. Our fiscal officer and council have done an outstanding job of anticipating revenues and allocating this revenue for appropriate expenditures.

? 3. What actions will you take to support clean air?

Answer from Alan S. "Buzz" Montague, II:

It is my opinion that air and water quality have improved measurably over the last 30 years. I will strive to protect all citizens whenever a potential hazard exists. We do not live in a perfect or fair environment. I believe clean air and water are very important to all of us, but many of the restrictions and regulations from the EPA hurt our nation's ability to compete internationally. I am not an environmental expert, but when one governmental agency can dramatically influence our country's future, extreme care must be exercised in the development and implementation of all new regulations.
