? 1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?

Answer from Ray Warren:

Police and Fire services are absolutely basic to our Village. Our maintenance services (snow, leaf, and branch removal) are the envy of other communities. Fiscal responsibility and efficiency of delivering Village services are now essential in these challenging times. In parallel we must maintain the Village ambiance and friendliness that make Amberley Village a desirable and attractive place to live.

? 2. How would you balance the Village Budget?

Answer from Ray Warren:

First, we must engage all stakeholders in this process, from residents to employees to businesses. A transparent process must be ensured that includes no conflicts of interest. We must review and calibrate all expenses and revenues. Our expenses should be compared and in line with average to best in class business practices for equivalent work. Taxes can only be proposed after a thorough examination of all revenue streams and consequences. It is not acceptable to have Amberley the highest earnings tax municipality in the State.

Today the Village faces an enormous deficit ($1.5 mil with $3 mil in cash on hand). While some erroneously believe the deficit is due to Amberley Green, nothing can be further from the truth. The immediate sale of Amberley Green at today's under market values would place the Village in bankruptcy-nothing short of folly! I would enable residents, who have expressed an interest, to underwrite a Green Trust that would simultaneously reduce the Village's fiscal burden.

? 3. What actions will you take to support clean air?

Answer from Ray Warren:

There are no heavy industries in the Village. I would continue to support recycling efforts.
