? 1. What are your qualifications for office?

Answer from Thomas J. "Tom" Whittington:

1) 28 years in the private sector, managing people and controlling budgets. 2) Managed the upgrade of facilities with over 60 million dollars in capital equipment justifications and procurement. 3) Negotiated contracts with Vendors and Workforces to maintain a profitable organization

Answer from Joseph S. Geers:

I previously served on Norwood City Council during tough economic conditions. I am familliar with the budget process in the city.

? 2. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the City?

Answer from Joseph S. Geers:

I believe that all of the safety services are essential for the city of Norwood. I also believe that the Senior Center and the Norwood Recreation are key services as well.

Answer from Thomas J. "Tom" Whittington:

Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, Senior Citizen Center and Care, Health and Human development, Parks and Recreation, Buildings.

? 3. How would you balance the City Budget?

Answer from Thomas J. "Tom" Whittington:

1) Analize Waste, 2) Hold managers accountable for maintaining realistic budgets, 3) Focus on Growth and New Development, 4) Work with existing Companies to help in there growth

Answer from Joseph S. Geers:

I believe that we need to look at the budget and ask ourselves "what can be," instead of "what has been." On a personal level, i am an efficient person; I try to do more with less. I will look at grants, and other avenues to receive funds to purchase goods or services that currently come out of the general fund.

? 4. What actions will you take to support clean air?

Answer from Thomas J. "Tom" Whittington:

Maintain Public standards for emmisions, Upgrade recycling programs, Develop method for the maintenace of both city and personal vehicles.
