? 1. What are your qualifications for office?

Answer from Daniel R. Brooks:

My training as an Architect, my experiences gained by starting and owning my own business since 1979 and my experience as being Mayore since 1984 makes me extremely qualified to seek re-election to the office of Mayor. I have and will continue to apply the professional approach to analyzing challenges and planning for solutions to those challenges.

Answer from Matt Miller-Novak:

First, I have a Masters of Fine Art and understand visual communications that can enhance the virtually non-existent marketing strategies of North College Hill. Second, I have also created a local mural project and art gallery, which have added culture and nightlife to NCH, as well as visual appeal to potential business owners. Third, I am currently attending Chase School of Law and gaining knowledge in Property, Constitutional, and Criminal Law that can be beneficial to NCH. Finally, I have a diverse background that will make me a flexible leader of North College Hill.

? 2. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the City?

Answer from Daniel R. Brooks:

Our city's mission statement clearly delineates those services. Namely, we should strive to provide those services that result in creating neighborhoods that result in creating a home in which ALL citizens live, work and play in a safe, clean and harmonious and environmentally responsible atmosphere.Any service that aids in reaching those goals should be considered as essential.

Answer from Matt Miller-Novak:

I believe that the citizens and business owners of North College Hill should have their health, safety, and investments protected. Therefore, the police, code, and fire departments, as well as economic development efforts should be of the highest priority of a city's administration.

? 3. How would you balance the City Budget?

Answer from Matt Miller-Novak:

Instead of continuing the current policy of borrowing money and paying more for city expenditures due to bond interests, I will find more innovative ways to raise and save funding to pay for expenses. In addition, I will investigate supporting staff and other expenses to determine what tough decisions should be made in order to save the taxpayers' money.

Answer from Daniel R. Brooks:

We already have. In fact, we have a positive fund balance. We have accomplished this by the adoption of a charter requiring the formation of the position of a professional, full time, non-political Finance Director. We will keep it balanced by following the guidlines of our long term finance and business plan that has alredy been developed.

? 4. What actions will you take to support clean air?

Answer from Daniel R. Brooks:

As stated in our mission statement, I feel it important both in short and long term to be cognizant of our environment. We have just completed a new school campus that is one of the first entirely green school campusess in the State of Ohio. We urge the use of landscape within our City and will be looking into the use of electric municipal vehicles. Obviously, however, budget will be a factor.
