This is the brief I wrote to give voters an idea as to where I stand on the issues.
If elected to city council, I would want to see a more concerted effort with all regional leadership in trying to bring much needed jobs to our area. It is best to encourage a common sense approach for dealing with our budgetary challenges. I suggest a standing Budgetary Advisory Committee that is transparent and seeks to involve all stakeholders in seeking ways to cut costs. We must reverse the trend that is downsizing our public safety sector. I would seek ways to help our students make gains in employment related activities, bolster after school programs and work to divert at risk students away from the allure of gang affiliation. It is necessary that Modesto pulls together intelligently because we are faced with economic times not seen since the Great Depression.
