Candidate for
Board Member; San Bruno Park School District

As adults, our future is in the hands of the children of today. We, adults, must make sure these children are well prepared for their future in high schools, colleges, trade schools and professional programs to become productive citizens. As a trustee of a K-8 district, my priorities for students and parents include, but not limited to:

• Increase student achievement.
• Bring and keep schools out of PI status.
• Support parents in helping their children be successful students.
• Provide an essential infrastructure for students to learn.
• Adequately equip the classrooms with essential textbooks, computers, software, materials and supplies.
• Instead of cutting programs / activities, re-establish eliminated programs /activities and establish new programs / activities.
• Establish a District 5 Year Plan to budget and fulfill future educational requirements to ensure quality education.
• Provide a nourishing environment for students to learn.

I will work hard to bring more fiscal accountability to the district, to eliminate wasteful practices and use our resources wisely. Provide raises to our teaching and support staff which the district budget can bear now and in the future. Along with other board members, I will look for ways to leverage our resources and find new ways of collaboration.

Teachers

Provide teachers with the necessary information to explain to parents, the academic needs of the students in each grade level. Allow teachers to focus on teaching. Provide teachers the necessary tools they need like up-to-date textbooks, adequate number of computers and software and supplies. Provide a salary commensurate with our district's ability to fund the salaries and retirement programs.

Community

I promised to listen to the community's needs, parents' needs and student needs. I promised to be accountable, sensitive and pro-active to the issues at hand. This district needs the experienced that I can provide plus my financial knowledge and my understanding of principles of school budgets and financial statements. Having two children who attended district schools and now have grown into adult hood, I gained experience and knowledge watching and helping them through their school years. With children who have graduated from college, I have a better understanding on preparing students for high school, college and beyond. I have had 6 successful years as a school district trustee.

I will work passionately for your children's education. For all children deserve a quality education. Therefore, I respectively ask for your vote on November 8, 2011 for San Bruno Park School District Trustee.
