When I ask Belmont residents what they'd change about Belmont, about half of them say "I love it just the way it is, don't change anything," and the other half say "Belmont is a great family town but I'd really like more places to gather and shop in Belmont."

I believe it's your city council's first job to set policy to ensure that Belmont remains solvent and financially healthy--as well as a safe and pleasant place to live, day to day. This policy needs to reflect the needs of all of the residents of the city--the youngest as well as the older.

Over the last four years I've taken an active leadership role in Sustainability, Transportation, and Public Safety. My main guiding principles are to listen to all sides of a story and try to find common ground, to dig deep into issues and bring all the facts to light, and to always try to predict the unintended consequences of any action taken--and then to take a stand and monitor implementation of policy decisions.
