My wife, Beth, and I have lived on the coast for over 25 years, first in Half Moon Bay and then in Montara.

I worked at Stanford University and the Stanford School of Medicine for over 25 years. During that period I ran both clinical and research laboratories, worked as a computer systems manager and analyst in the Department of Medicine, and spent seven years in Biostatistics and Health Research and Policy. I from 2001-2010 I was self-employed, owning my own statistical consulting firm based on the Coast. In 2010 I returned to Stanford to work in a Pediatric research program. As a consultant I learned how to help people and organizations solve problems.

The Half Moon Bay Review noted that "John Oehlert is full of ideas and probably brought the best single idea of all of the candidates - a Facebook page for the council so we can all keep up without much time or effort." Improving communication with Midcoast residents and seeking their input is my top priority if elected to the MCC. I have the fundamental belief that government should serve the interests of the people.
