Position Papers
High Speed Rail and Transportation
The current plan for high speed rail is wrong. It would build the equivalent of a four-lane freeway through our charming city. I want to emphasize that I would never support a high speed rail proposal that would divide Burlingame or result in unacceptable congestion.
Supporting Our Children and Education
I have always been a strong supporter of local schools. I was PTA President of Lincoln School and have helped on numerous school parcel tax campaigns, including many nights of phone banking. I am supporting Measure E for the Burlingame Elementary School District on the November ballot.
Bringing New Revenue to Burlingame
Our city is passionate about economic development. To bring in more revenues, we've been aggressively courting businesses and it's working. Between 2009-10 and 2010-11, our sales tax revenues have increased 28 percent and our income from our local hotel tax has risen 29 percent. A number of new businesses have recently opened in Burlingame, including Nissan.
