This information is provided by the candidate

It has been eight years since I was elected to the City Council in Redwood City. Your support and belief in my ability to make a difference at City Hall made it possible for me to win in 2003 and 2007.

I need that same support and commitment again to help me get re-elected on November 8, 2011.

I'm a little older and a lot wiser, but my commitment to you and the values that we share on building a healthy and strong community have not changed. I continue to be guided by the following principles as an elected official:

  • I do my homework and I independently search out information.
  • I listen and I challenge assumptions.
  • I know how to build consensus and support.

Additionally, my city council committee work has provided me with an in-depth understanding of some of our most important community issues, including:
  • The city's budget and the importance of fiscal stability and alignment of resources.
  • Water, sewer, garbage, street and sidewalk needs.
  • Bair Island Restoration
  • Economic development in our downtown, along El Camino and in our neighborhood commercial centers.
  • Regional transportation improvements.

I have worked hard on issues for our community including maintaining healthy reserves in our General Fund, ensuring that core services such as police and fire have adequate resources, improving our libraries and parks and working with my council colleagues in developing strategic initiatives and a City Annual Report so that you can see first hand how we use our resources to make Redwood City a great place to live and work.

In 2007 my colleagues on the City Council selected me to be Redwood City's Mayor. It was an honor and privilege for me to serve in this capacity for two years. I enjoyed working with my colleagues, city staff and community members on a variety of issues that kept Redwood City moving forward. My theme as Mayor was "Redwood City Pride" and I continue to promote this philosophy and recognition of all the good we have in our community

Being on Council has been a rewarding experience for me and one I hope to continue for four more years. I have gained a deeper appreciation for Redwood City, its similarities and differences with other communities, and its deep sense of pride, history, and place in San Mateo County.

Please feel free to contact me through my campaign website at http://www.rosannefoust.com/ or via email at rosannefoust@comcast.net.

In closing, I would appreciate your support and vote on November 8th.
