I am for a `Technology First' Approach. If elected to the San Bruno Park School District Board of Trustees, I would work to implement a 'technology first' approach and drive the current technology plan in place by the district.

  • I would work to implement an integrated approach from the board and staff to manage technology initiatives.
  • I would also begin to work within our community to find ways to help improve technology resources for students within our district.
  • I would advocate the hiring staff to investigate and apply to outside funding sources and grants for district technology initiatives.

I Would Work Hard to Manage and Prevent Gangs in our Schools I firmly believe that street gangs are a community issue, and schools are a large part of the community. Our schools cannot operate in isolation while hoping that gang members will somehow forget about gang alliances once they enter school grounds. That's why school and community responses require a balanced approach of prevention, intervention and enforcement strategies.
  • I would advocate and implement an approach that includes all community stakeholders, including city government, police, social services, teachers, parents AND students.
  • As a San Bruno school board trustee, I would work to establish cooperative relationships with parents, students, San Bruno P.D., neighborhood watch groups and city hall.
  • I would work to set up mechanisms to promote information sharing and coordination from ALL stakeholders while giving them a safe means of reporting gang activities and information.
  • I would drive the district to continue its plan of ongoing training for educators and work to make I also believe training available to parents.
  • I would also work to institute anti-gang and prevention programs at the elementary and middle school levels.

I am against the closure of schools and for district realignment. I believe that the schools of our community are assets and I am firmly against the closure of any schools in the district. I believe that we do need to look at ways to balance our student population in ways that make sense in order to fully utilize our available classroom resources.
  • I would look at open enrollment strategies as a means to give parents choices with regards to the school that is right for the students.
  • I believe that reduction of classroom sizes is also important and should be used as a critical success factor in any district reconfiguration effort.
