Sharmin Bock, 49, is a veteran prosecutor and a nationally recognized leader on cutting edge criminal prosecutions including DNA cold cases and human exploitation and trafficking (HEAT).

A San Francisco resident for over 40 years, Sharmin serves as an Assistant District Attorney for Alameda County in charge of Special Operations and Policy Development. Born in Iran, Sharmin's first languages were French, English and Farsi.

She moved to San Francisco at an early age and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School. Bock attended Occidental College, graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy and Political Theory in 1984. She then attended Georgetown University Law Center and graduated Cum Laude in 1988.

Prior to graduating from law school, Sharmin worked for the San Francisco law firms of Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro, and Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon, as well working for the Environmental Enforcement Section of the United States Department of Justice, in Washington D.C.

After law school, Bock returned to San Francisco and served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable D. Lowell Jensen in the United States District Court of the Northern District of California. In 1989, Bock joined the Alameda County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney.

Throughout her 22-year career in the Alameda County District Attorney's office, Sharmin prosecuted almost every kind of serious and violent crime, including murder, sexual assault, child molestation, extortion, kidnapping, robbery, human trafficking, domestic violence, burglary, carjacking and torture. Appearing in court in over one thousand cases on behalf of the People of California, Sharmin achieved a 95% conviction rate on felony cases brought to trial.

The depth of Sharmin Bock's courtroom experience is reflected not just in guilty verdicts, but in the sentences she obtained that are keeping violent criminals off the streets + a sentence of 420 years to life for a serial child molester; life without the possibility of parole on a previously unsolved 21-year old torture murder of a prostitute; 265 years to life on a predator who sexually assaulted two young girls after climbing through a window in the middle of the night; and 180 years to life on a serial rapist who targeted young African-American women.

Sharmin Bock's record as a veteran prosecutor demonstrates a passion for justice and a lifetime commitment to making our communities safe.
