Statement of CHRIS ZHANG, Candidate for
Member, Cupertino City Council
Occupation: Patent Attorney/Businessman
Age: 32
Education and Qualifications:

What are some of the most pressing challenges facing our Cupertino today? You may be concerned like me that: 1. We must preserve and strengthen our schools; 2. Our city's budget is going into deficit; 3. Cupertino must remain globally competitive.

Here is what I will do to make Cupertino a great place to work, learn, and live: 1. Improve our science classes. Reduce school area traffic, and encourage input from parents and the community; 2. Balance our budget. Stop the trend into deficit; 3. Encourage desirable businesses. Install city-wide free WiFi at no cost to taxpayers.

Before law school, I earned a degree in computer science at San Jose State University, and trained under the U.S. Marine Corps officer selection program. Having worked in the federal government and private sector, I understand the issues we are facing and know how to solve them.

Currently volunteering at our emergency response team, I appreciate the imperative to plan well ahead. Vote for me. Together, we will protect Cupertino's future, starting now.
