Statement of JACK WALKER, Candidate for
Member, Sunnyvale City Council, Seat 6
Occupation: Engineering Project Manager
Education and Qualifications:

I've lived in Sunnyvale for over 30 years. My community involvement began with my neighborhood association. I also served a four year term on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission before serving two terms on the Sunnyvale City Council. I served as Mayor in 2001. Currently I'm serving on the Board of Directors of the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, including as Chairman in 2009 and 2010. I currently serve as Co-Chair of the Fremont Union High School District Measure B Oversight Committee.

Sunnyvale, like every other city in California faces significant challenges. Unfunded mandates from both the State and Federal governments, along with a dismal economy and a broken downtown, have seriously reduced city revenue, increased costs and forced the city to reevaluate the way it does business. We need a Councilmember who can respond to these challenges. I have the experience, the knowledge and the ability to work with the City, residents and businesses to ensure that Sunnyvale remains the strong city that the citizens have come to expect. I understand what is important to the citizens of Sunnyvale. We need vision and leadership on the Sunnyvale City Council. I can provide that vision and leadership. Please vote for Jack Walker
