Who's Pocket Am I In?

A question of character and principles
At the beginning of this campaign, I, like many other candidates, sought endorsements. As a strong union supporter, The South Bay Labor Council invited me to participate in their interview process for a possible endorsement. I felt I was treated like I was a "shoe in" for their endorsement due to my life long labor ethics.

In the process my view on a couple issues arose as did my own personal questions on my principles. Do I compromise my own integrity and give them the "right" answer with the strong possibility of not only an endorsement but also contributions.

After the second interview, which I feel was intended to "correct my mistakes", I saw myself as nothing more that a political rat chasing the cheese. Is this what being a school board member is all about? Our community and especially our children deserve the highest quality leadership with strong moral convictions. We need absolute transparency and a board that forthright in their service to the community. Seeing this ugly truth in myself I withdrew my request of The South Bay Labor Council and ceased my quest for "the cheese".

I would highly recommend going to the county Registrar Of Voters and request to examine the campaign filings of all candidates as I have done. In these examinations I am now questioning the ethics of not only the candidates themselves but also those of their contributors.

It now time for us ask ourselves what is it that really matters to us and for us all to pay close attention.
