I was born in Los Angeles. My Mom was a Navy WAVE and my Dad was in the Army Air Corps. My family moved to West Point (California, not New York!) for a few years before Dad was recalled for the Korean conflict. Growing up in an Air Force family, I had the good fortune to travel and live in diverse communities as my Dad was transferred around the South Pacific. My family returned to California where I completed primary school and my college education.

After high school, the family moved to the Bay Area, where I began working in the nascent high-tech industry while going to college. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Behavioral Science and a Masters degree in Organization Development.

While working in various semiconductor companies at various levels of management, I left the corporate world to form my own business which allowed me to teach and consult with various organizations. Utilizing my Bachelor's and Masters degrees, I focused my company around training and facilitation, management change and communication primarily serving non-profits, government agencies and corporate clients. I have continued teaching regularly at UCSC Extension and work with existing clients.

For the last decade, I have been an active leader for a very ethnically diverse neighborhood in Sunnyvale. I have chaired and still co-chair the San Miguel Neighbors Association. Through this experience, I have had the opportunity to be the liaison with the City on numerous issues that have an effect on the community as a whole. In addition to this experience, I have successfully completed a term on the Sunnyvale Arts Commission which brought to the forefront, my desire to run for City Council.
