Ballot Statement

By Joan "Lisetor" Lisetor

Candidate for Board Member; Marin Community College District

This information is provided by the candidate
My qualifications for this office are deep. Please read for complete information below.
In these challenging times, we need leadership from our Community College Board to help today's students prepare for the changing job market.

Our Community College has done much to improve educational opportunities and fiscal oversight. But there is always room for improvement. In vocational education for instance, we can better utilize public/private partnerships to offer students hands-on experience.

The Board must insist on high quality of instruction at both campuses to assure that standards for full accreditation are met, while providing opportunities for all students, those transferring to a four year program, those seeking job skills for today's market, and those seeking enrichment through community education and lifelong learning.

As the only candidate who has been a student, faculty member and administrator there, I feel uniquely qualified to provide that leadership on the Marin Community College Board..

My experience also includes serving on the Marin County Board of Education and work with several non-profits. This background and my work as a writer and producer interacting with people all over Marin County have prepared me to fully participate on the College Board from day one, ensuring the College benefits the whole Marin community in a fiscally responsible manner.
