I am committed to:

Putting the community back into community college. In addition to celebrating and supporting efforts to educate the students wishing to transfer to a four year institution, more emphasis must be placed on vocational education that results in a skilled workforce with good paying jobs. As Trustee, I would encourage better partnerships between the local job providers, faculty, and administration in order to ensure that course offerings meet the needs of the community.

Working with the other members of the Hartnell Board of Trustees to ensure a healthy and productive work environment.

Finding creative solutions to maintain critical services and programs even as we continue to struggle with tough economic times.

Building an academic bridge that will provide students a pathway to further their education and the confidence and tools to find meaningful jobs. As Trustee, I will support and advocate for more resources towards the Alisal Campus, the expansion of educational services in further reaching communities of Monterey County, and the strengthening of partnerships with organizations such as NASA, USDA, Naval Post Graduate School, CSUMB and elementary and secondary school districts. I truly believe that education creates opportunity, and as the Trustee for District 2, I will focus on empowering others to realize their opportunities.

Maintaining an open dialogue with the community in order to make sure that the needs of the community are being addressed.

Working towards more financial transparency and more effective and efficient oversight. Trustees act as representatives of the community as well as bridges between the college and those it serves. I believe the community needs to understand the financial standing of the institution. This promotes accountability and sets a clear level of understanding. As Trustee, I would ensure that information is shared in a variety of mediums.

Ensuring the success of our students - that they are getting the best education possible and that they are prepared for whatever their future holds.
