Smart Voter Full Biography for Scott Zeidman

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Culver City Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I am the current President of the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education.

The great city of Culver City has been my home since 1972. I attended Farragut Elementary School, Culver City Junior High School, and I graduated from Culver City High School (1980), Loyola Marymount University (BS in Biology 1984) and the University of California Davis School of Law (JD 1990).

I have been a practicing attorney since 1990, and in 1999 I became the Vice President and General Counsel of L.A. Slot Machine Company, Inc. I also worked for the Culver City Department of Human Services as a parks and recreation leader from (approximately) 1977 through 1985, at Lindberg Park, Veteran's Park, Blanco Park, Blair Hills Park, El Marino Park, Culver West Park, McManus Park (now Syd Kronenthal Park), Linwood E. Howe, La Ballona, and Betsy Ross (now closed).

I am married to the lovely Aileen, and we have two boys (Jason and Brandon) attending school in CCUSD. Culver City is a tremendous city with great resources, the most important resource being our fantastic community members. Culver City has not only become a destination city within Los Angeles County, but more importantly, we are a city where people grow up and choose to remain. I'm living proof of that.

As the President of the Culver City Board of Education, I look not at how good our schools are, but rather I look at how great our schools truly can be. We have a tremendous core of teachers and staff, providing our students the best possible education. We have a large array of elective options for our students. But we can, and will, be better. With the community's support, our schools can become the model for all districts not only in Los Angeles County, but in the State of California.
