Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Antelope Valley Joint Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Putting Children First:

The Antelope Valley has been my home since 1973. I am proud to bring a lifetime of dedication to our schools as a PTA President, School Board Member and Lancaster Education Foundation member. I also helped to develop an effective classroom reading program for local Elementary school students.

As your Board Member, I have always worked to put our children first by promoting the highest standards of accountability and fiscal responsibility to the High School District, including:

Quality Education--Supported higher teaching standards and greater emphasis on academic fundamentals in our classrooms. Helped to create an innovative early college education program--SOAR High School--at Antelope Valley College.

Public Integrity--Developed a stronger Ethics Policy for High School Board Members and employees.

School Safety-- Required all staff and students to carry photo ID on campus. Working with Sheriff's Deputies to prevent gang activity and keep drugs away from students.

Taxpayer Advocate--Established a Cost Control Oversight Team to ensure the construction of Eastside High School was completed within budget. Expanded use of solar energy panels at high school campuses to lower energy costs.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Your Independent Voice for Accountability on the Antelope Valley High School Board.
