This information is provided by the candidate

During my tenure as a Board Member:

  • Our School District has made great progress in improved safety for students and staff, lower dropout rates, strengthened curriculum, higher test scores, and fiscal responsibility.

  • Despite devastating budget cuts the District shows 8 years of significant and sustained growth in API scores.

  • We have managed to retain our core curriculum, instructional technology, arts, music, JROTC, and athletic programs despite these budget cuts.

  • I was instrumental in acquiring federal funds to secure the jobs of teachers and classified staff resulting in the rescission of over 113 layoff notices.

With 32 years of service in Pomona, I hope I have earned your confidence as an educator and Board Member. With your support and your vote to re-elect me on November 8, I will strive to continue to provide the leadership necessary to ensure that our School District can improve upon the progress we have made, and to recruit, train, and retain the best Teachers and Administrators available to manage our classrooms and our schools. Our students deserve the very best.

I am strongly committed to:

  • ensuring that the students in our district receive the best education possible at all grade levels, at all schools, and are better prepared to face the challenges of a 21st century society and changing work environment.

  • accountability and excellence in education, a safe school environment, and ensuring our district remains financially responsible.

  • continuing open and direct communication between the school board, district staff, community members, parents, and students.

  • continuing to foster positive working relationships between the Governing Board, District Administration, Teachers and Classified employees which has allowed the district to navigate through difficult economic uncertainty.
