Since moving to South Pasadena, I have taken an active role in the community through my volunteer work and leadership positions. Serving first on the Transportation Commission and now on the Freeway and Transportation Commission, I have listened to the needs of the residents for street improvements and traffic issues. My experiences as a Civil Engineer have provided the insight necessary to understand what is possible and how to partner with the public works department for improved outcomes for citizens of South Pasadena.

I have given back to the community through my volunteer efforts:

  • President of the Kiwanis Club of South Pasadena
  • Chair of the Festival of Balloons, July 4th Parade
  • Committee Chair, South Pasadena Tournament of Roses
  • South Pasadena High School Booster Club + Bingo Volunteer
  • Chair Kiwanis-SP Fire Dept. Spaghetti Dinner
  • Board Member, Oneonta Club

I am also concerned about our oceans and the environment:
  • Volunteer Diver, Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific
  • Scientific Survey Diver, Reef Check California

As a volunteer diver at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific; I educate visitors about the undersea world and how to protect our fragile environment. As a volunteer "citizen scientist" diver with Reef Check California, I conduct underwater surveys of the kelp forest so that the State of California and other agencies will have data upon which to base their environmental decisions.

With a Master's in Business Administration and experience as Director of International Business Development in the energy industry I have initiated and negotiated projects in Asia, Europe, and Latin America (Central and South America). This experience has taught me how to bring together diverse cultures, interest and ideas and find common ground for all. In South Pasadena, we need fresh approaches to our recurring problems that will result in a better South Pasadena for all of us.

As a business consultant, I have traveled throughout the United States to assist companies with turning around their operations and moving to the next level of profit. I will bring these same strengths to City Council to ensure that our City Staff is being utilized to its fullest potential and evaluate where savings can be found in the budget. Over the years city council members have become complacent with the way in which the city operates. This has resulted in $200,000 to $300,000 in extra yearly cost that needs to be redistributed to repairs of our residential streets.

Growing up in the Philippines, Guam and San Antonio has taught me the value of each person's ideas, thoughts and our common focus on our day-to-day lives. I will bring a fresh approach that will result in an enhance quality of life for all of us.
