Candidate for Governing Board Member; Monrovia Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
We need to continue the tremendous progress we've made while I've been on the School Board.
Since I became a member of the School Board in 2005, Monrovia's schools have improved significantly:
-- Test scores have risen dramatically putting the District at the Academic Performance Index (API) target of 800.
-- Monrovia High School has been rebuilt into a state-of-the-art, beautiful campus that maintains the heritage and character of Monrovia while enhancing academics, arts, and athletics.
-- Canyon Oaks/ Mountain Park has excelled, becoming one of the few continuation/alternative schools in California to be fully accredited.
-- Music has been expanded and language programs added at the elementary level.
-- College attendance by our graduates has risen dramatically.
-- Parent surveys show overwhelming satisfaction with programs, staffing, and student achievement as our dedicated administrators, teachers and staff work to insure safe, orderly campuses for dynamic learning and individual growth.
-- New and expanded programs such as the dual immersion language program at Monroe Elementary, the upcomming fee based foreign student program, elementary and middle school strings programs, and full day kindergarten are bringing more families into our schools.
