Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Susan Brooks

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Rancho Palos Verdes

This information is provided by the candidate

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes was established in 1973 by a comprehensive committee of over 180 members. It sought to maintain our semi-rural atmosphere while respecting private property rights to guard its magnificent coastline. Its founders were content with less government interference in our lives and more personal responsibility. Thus, it became a Contract City in order to preserve a lower tax base with high quality essential services such as Public Safety and Fire.

Government operates best when it is held accountable to the people and it's elected representatives. In the layer-cake of life the stack should prioritize the people at the top, the Council in the middle (as servants to the people) and the staff at the bottom, accountable to Council and the People.

That layer cake has been completely reversed in the past decade. The people have lost their voice.
