Governing Board Member; Bassett Unified School District

Joshua Luis Acevedo has been a lifetime resident of Bassett and is a proud alumnus of our school district. Joshua started at Van Wig Elementary all the way to Bassett High School. Mr. Acevedo is committed to ensuring that Bassett overcomes current economic challenges without impairing services to our students; improving student success; and community advocacy. Joshua is ready to be your voice on your school board. In 2005, Joshua purposed a youth leadership program at Bassett Park. This program was design to give the youth in the Bassett community a chance to be a community leader and be the voice of their peers. Associated Park Council (APC) was approved on July 15, 2005 to become a program. Since 2005 this program serviced over 460 members in the Bassett community and has won awards from local and federal elected officials. In 2011, County of Los Angeles Supervisor Gloria Molina awarded a grant to APC and requested that it be duplicated at other county parks.
