The Contra Costa Times editorial of May 5th 2011 stated that Ward should be recalled and that William Wilkins should be elected to replace her. The Times stated that
" Wilkins is far superior, having worked in local government for 35 years, much of the time for city redevelopment agencies. His keen understanding of the city's finances and redevelopment problems will be a huge asset on the council".
