Candidate for
Director; Colonial School District; Democratic, Republican Party

I have been appointed as a Colonial School Board Director by both political parties on two different occasions. I'm committed to the Colonial students and community and have the experience to help make educated decisions that will allow Colonial to continue to grow as a top tier district in Montgomery County.

Serving on the district's Finance Committee, I am fully aware of the financial situation the district is currently facing. As Chair of the Safety/Wellness Committee I serve as a liaison with the three local police departments to ensure that ours is always a safe environment where our students can learn and excel.

As a member of the Community Relations/Student Life I am familiar with many of the issues that our students are facing daily in and out of the classroom. As member of the Curriculum committee I am part of the team that is responsible for approving the final curriculum and ensuring that it exceeds the state and federal mandates that all districts must follow.

Being a current school board director, I have the experience in dealing with the issues that the district is faced with on a daily basis. Some of the more pertinent issues that I have dealt with in this past year alone are: budgetary shortfalls and reallocations, contract negotiations with three different collective bargaining units, oversight of various capital projects including new green initiatives, constant and ongoing coordination with financial officers regarding ongoing and rapidly changing financial projections, and various legislative issues and mandates.
