Why I am running for school director in the West Jeferson Hills School District

By Janice L "Jan" (Szekely) Glunk

Candidate for Director; West Jefferson Hills School District; 4 Year Term; Democratic, Republican Party

The responsibilities of a School Director
A school director is elected to be the voice of the parents and students in the school district represented. It is not a position to come to with a single issue you want. It is not a place to be on a "power trip". It is a place to work together to improve community relations with the district, to choose the best educational programs, materials, and practices, and to monitor that taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely and for ALL children, not just a single entity.

It is my hope that if elected, I can bring a sense a civility to one another, to the administration, teachers, and support staff. My responsibility is to listen to all stakeholders and make the best unbiased decisions based on facts.

I know that I may sound idealistic, but I have hope that bringing civility back to this board, and doing away with the pettiness and intimidation, will go a long way to greatness. To work with an openness that allows every one to be heard and make their own decisions.

I am not here for a "power trip". I am here to lead by example, showing compassion and tolerance for all. I am here for the children and youth of this district.
