Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Mitchell Englander

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 12

This information is provided by the candidate

Mitchell Englander's top priority is to focus on core services first. Those include public safety, infrastructure and public works, planning and transportation, and neighborhood services including Neighborhood Councils and economic development. The City is facing a $350 million budget deficit, the worst in the City's history. Spending has been out of control for too long. First and foremost, Mitch will cut our expenses and stop basing the budget on unrealistic revenue projections or selling off City assets to balance the budget. This city must do priority based budgeting and ensure that those services are funded first.

As current CD 12 Councilman Greig Smith's Chief of Staff, Mitchell Englander reduced staff and found other savings in the council office's operating budget and as a result was able to give back a million dollars worth of taxpayer's funds.

While he has never been a candidate for public office, Mitch is the only candidate in CD12 that has worked for an elected official in City Hall and that has the experience to navigate the complicated overblown draconian system of governance and layers of bureaucracy.

Mitch doesn't believe policing, pot holes and pension reform are partisan issues. He believes in eliminating the City's business tax, making Los Angeles more competitive to attract new industries and companies, and holding general managers and supervisors accountable.

Mitchell Englander has been a proven fighter for people who live and work throughout the San Fernando Valley. Mitch oversaw the Valley Secession campaign and was involved with Finally Restoring Excellence to Education (FREE) which is committed to breaking up LAUSD. Additionally Mitch took on over 18 lobbying and law firms and various special interests and stopped the Las Lomas Development project, the largest proposed development in the history of Los Angeles.

We need Mitch to continue to fight for the citizens of CD 12! Vote Mitchell Englander on March 8th!
