Jobs and the economy

By Walter A. "Walt" Waite, Jr.

Candidate for State Representative; District 161

This information is provided by the candidate
Giving small business owners the opportunity to expand their business operation and create jobs.
The economy is begining to show signs of recovery and that is good. Unfortunately, the job sector is the last area to recover, which means we must do everything possible to help people find jobs and get back on their feet. Since the 161st district is comprised of mostly small business, that is where we must start. Helping small business owners with capitol investment tax incentives will allow them to expand their businesses, create jobs and become part of the solution that will restore our economy.

When it costs business owners less money to buy new equipment, vehicles, or upgrades of any kind, they are then able to invest more money into their business which will not only allow them to hire people to drive those vehicles and man the new equipment, but also spread the opportunities throughout the economy. The makers of the equipment and vehicles will have to hire more workers to keep up with the increased demand.

We have done this before and we can do it again. We must do it again. We can no longer tolerate such high unemployment rates and we must not allow those who are unemployed to loose hope. Their elected officials must work for them and explore all possible solutions to the current economic situation. This will be my first priority when elected.
