There is no ambiguity on Lois' position on choice: She is pro-choice. She supports a woman's unfettered right to make her own decisions about reproductive health, based on her own values. Whether a woman chooses to make decisions about these issues with her family, her husband or significant other, her physician, or her spiritual advisor, Lois supports those independent decisions.

For her demonstrated commitment to reproductive rights, Lois has won the endorsement of the National Organization for Women (NOW), National Women's Political Caucus, Women's Campaign Forum, and the Feminist Majority. Lois Herr has publicly stated:

"I strongly support Roe vs. Wade.

"I support the position that preventing unwanted pregnancy is vital to reducing abortions. I believe that prevention of unintended pregnancy deserves full support and funding, that health insurance should cover birth control, and that sex education must be age-appropriate, and include medically accurate information about abstinence, birth control, HIV/AIDS and STDs.

"I support the expansion of reproductive rights to women of all economic strata.

"I oppose the efforts of anti-choice legislators who want to restrict reproductive health care to women simply because they are poor. I oppose bans on public funding of abortion.

"I oppose the efforts of anti-choice legislators who would usurp the role of doctors and other professionals and by requiring them to recite a government-required speech to women seeking care, or by mandating an ultrasound regardless of whether it is medically indicated. In addition, I oppose government-imposed waiting periods for care.

"I support basic reproductive rights for military servicewoman. These brave women risk their lives to protect our freedom. They are entitled to the same freedoms they protect."
