Questions & Answers

1. How will you prioritize the budget choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending, and address the need for fair revenue sources that are sufficient for state and local government services?

I will look to cut spending on welfare and entitlement programs, and seek more private competition in essential public services.

Government worker pensions and health care benefits must be reformed, giving them the same private investing and health insurance options the rest of us get choose from, including but not limited to a 401K. Currently, government worker pensions and health care benefits are a burden to Californians, adding immensely to California's $600 BILLION debt.

2. What proposals, if any, do you support to fix the budget process? What other types of changes or reforms, if any, do you think are important to make our state government function more effectively?

The framers of the California Budget process developed the 2/3 majority rule for a specific reason: to ensure that with the one major issue that crucial to our state's long term survival, the budget plan has to be so well supported that at least 2/3 of the state's representatives will vote for it.

I suggest the State legislation simply cut spending and repeal its many failed government programs.

It is the lack of compromise of behalf of the majority party (for the last 30+ years), the Democrats, that creates budget gridlock. Since they are unwilling to negotiate, they are trying to modify the budget laws they fail to work within.

3. Many members of the Legislature say that education is a high priority for the state. Yet fees for public higher education have gone up dramatically and funding has been cut. What is your vision for California’s higher education future, and how do you propose to get there?

Get government out of higher education all together. Isn't your child's education to0 important to let politicians and bureaucrats control it?
