My position is that the High Speed Rail Line should be built right or not at all.I have been following the plans related to building the High Speed Rail line from San Francisco to San Jose because of my continuing interest in both the safety and the environmental impacts on the communities that will be affected by the project's construction and operation. I have also been a member of the Atherton Rail Committee for the last four years. I strongly support the position of the cities of Redwood City, Atherton, Menlo Park and Palo Alto that the high speed train track should be placed in a deep tunnel or covered trench in the residential and downtown areas. A deep tunnel or covered trench are significantly better alternatives than the alternatives being considered which include placing the track at grade, in an open trench and/or on an elevated the track. My position is that the High Speed Rail Line should be built right or not at all. |
