Jeremy Cloward was born in San Francisco, California. He moved with his family to Pleasant Hill, California at a young age and grew up there with his older brother and sister while attending Gregory Gardens Elementary School, Valley View Middle School, College Park High School, and Diablo Valley College (DVC). After transferring from DVC, Jeremy earned a B.A. in political science from CSU Chico, a California Teaching Credential in social science from Chapman University, an M.A. in political science from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in political science from Claremont Graduate University. Throughout his time in high school, college and during his first few years after graduation he worked as a truck driver for his family's trucking company. In the fall of 2000, Jeremy began his teaching career with his first full-time teaching position at Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord, CA. Soon thereafter, he began his graduate studies and today is an adjunct professor of political science at Diablo Valley College.

Jeremy's is or has been a member of a number of non-profit organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, Human Rights Watch, the NAACP, the Native-American Rights Fund, United Farm Workers of America, and the United Nation's Children's Fund. Jeremy is or also has been a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Political Science Association, the California Part-Time Faculty Association, the Caucus for a New Political Science, and the National Education Association. He lives with his wife and children in Pleasant Hill, CA.
