Bringing green jobs training to the Inland Empire to prepare the workforce for the green economy.
JOBS CREATION AND WORKFORCE INVESTMENT

"As a small business owner, I understand how important economic development is to the Inland Empire and have worked to increase resources for small businesses and to improve technical education opportunities. I helped bring funding for green jobs training to our community college district. Nearly 20 years ago, I created a school-to-work program that today, refined through the years, is used by high schools statewide. My calling is to use my talents to work with community leaders to create a thriving region in the midst of these tough times. " ________________________________________________________________ Assembly Member Carter serves on the Assembly Task Force on Stimulus, Economic Recovery and Jobs and the California Workforce Investment Board Assembly Member Carter:

  • Supports the $2.6 billion federal stimulus funding for our highways and roads and to further state economic development.

  • Fought successfully this session for changes (AB 184) to provisions in the state budget that would have effectively shut down the state's highly successful Small Business Loan Guarantee Program.

  • Co-author of the "job creation bill package" that would create 140,000 jobs for Californians (27 measures that have not all been amended to reflect AMC as a co-author). This comprehensive bill package invests existing state and federal funds for targeted projects, expands jobs in the new economy, prepares Californians for jobs in growth industries, and provides working families with relief.

  • Assembly Member Carter is working hard to finance green workforce development in the state and the Inland Empire. She helped secure a $869,651 grant for the San Bernardino Community College District for a Green Building and Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship Training program in order to train our future workforce.
