STAN GREENBERG

Occupation: School Board Member (Elected Incumbent), Attorney

Candidate's Statement:

Believing that public education is a cornerstone of our democracy, I would be honored to continue my service on the Wright District Governing Board.

I have served on the Board continuously and gained valuable experience as a Board member since I was first elected 16 years ago, when my children were students in the District. I have provided leadership as Board President, served on all standing District committees (curriculum and planning, budget, facilities, policy, and employee bargaining), and helped to hire three superintendents. I have joined in Board actions to reduce class sizes, adopt rigorous academic standards, provide extra support for struggling students, maintain enrichment programs, create a K-8 charter school with an environmental focus, and acquire a fourth school site.

Meanwhile, the District's test scores have steadily climbed, and two of our schools have been honored recently for academic excellence: J. X. Wilson School, named both a National Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School, and R. L. Stevens School, named a California Distinguished School.

I am privileged to have served on the Governing Board these past 16 years, participating as a Board member in the Wright District's steady academic growth. An attorney advising clients on living within budgetary constraints, I am committed to maintaining the District's superior educational programs during these challenging times.

I renew my pledge to be open-minded, fair, accessible and responsive to our diverse community, and to continue to serve the best educational interests of all our students.
