By Sabrina Brennan

Candidate for Commissioner; San Mateo County Harbor District

This information is provided by the candidate
Reducing the 10.9 million dollar Harbor District debt is a top priority.
  • Investigate re-financing the outstanding debt at a lower interest rate.
  • Create New Revenue Streams through Public and Private Partnerships.
  • Review and evaluate management salaries and Commission benefits.
  • Review Concession Contracts.
  • Aggressively pursue grants to fund visitor-serving recreational facilities including the California Coastal Trail and Bay Trail improvements.

The waterfront is one of San Mateo County's greatest assets.

A successful marketing program is vital to the future of the Harbor District. Oyster Point Marina and Pillar Point Harbor should have individual marketing plans to increase revenues and pay for improvements. Building public awareness is an important and necessary step towards fiscal sustainability. Its time to expand public outreach through community organizations, seasonal events, the news media and social media.

A thriving Harbor District will benefit county residents, business owners, the commercial fishing industry, visitors, and the local workforce.
