Jim Quesenberry's Qualifications and Positions
I have dedicated my life to children and their education. I have worked for 39 years in public education, 3 years as an instructional aide and 36 years as a secondary teacher. I have coached football, wrestling and girl's softball. I taught in the Los Angeles area for 14 years and in the San Luis Coastal USD for 22 years. I have taught English, Social Studies, and English as a Second Language. I have served on the Morro Bay High School Management Team, English Learners Advisory Committee, Peer Assistance and Review Committee. I have been a teacher's association president, treasurer, bargaining chairperson, and grievance chair. My children and stepchildren are graduates of Morro Bay H.S. and San Luis Obispo H.S.

I am committed to establishing school board policies that are based on proven educational practices and sound research. I believe that parents and teachers are the best advocates for children. Therefore, those are the people I will initially seek out for information and feedback on the decisions that the school board will make. I am a willing listener and understand that all community members have a voice in the policies of the school district. That said. I am unwavering in my support of free and universal public education for all children, a public education that includes the "3 R's" and much more. Our children deserve to express themselves through the arts and athletics. Their mental and physical wellbeing require those opportunities.
