Future Budgetary Shortfalls

By Gary Allen Nemeth

Candidate for Mayor; City of Paso Robles

This information is provided by the candidate
We start planning today for tomorrow. We learn from what we have done in the past and not make the same errors again. We cannot control what the Federal Government does, just as we can do very little to control what the State does or what either one of them mandates that we do. I will not put off budget decisions until after the election much like the Federal Government; I will always put Paso Robles first. We stop doing expensive studies one after the other. We listen to the community and make decisions and stand by that decision until proven it must be changed. We review all the policies and procedures and streamline them to be more cost effective and time efficient.

I am a believer in smaller government. We hire capable people that are necessary to do the job. I do not believe in micromanagement. What we can do as a City government is to work together with open communication so that we all know where we are. When projects come up for approval we can efficiently and economically deal with it. Without so many roadblocks, projects will naturally cost less and come in under budget, saving the City money.

I am Fiscally Aware of what is taking place with our budget, with the hiring and the status of our city. I commit to you that what I know I will pass on to you so we are all on the same page. I listen to our city employees, I have their trust, I have a reputation of having integrity, honor and of always being willing to listen to all sides.

Our community must once again believe in what Abraham Lincoln said, "Government is of the people, by the people and for the people." By working together as a community we may not be able to completely avoid all future budgetary shortfalls but we certainly can shorten their impact.
