  • Graduated Cal Poly in 1986 with BS in Architectural Engineering

  • Worked nearly 10 years in Los Angeles for Large Consulting Engineering Firms. Gained exposure to a wide variety of projects and protocol necessary for successful completion. Projects include the first U.S. hospital to incorporate seismic isolators and seismic dampers.

  • Graduated Duke University in 1998 with Ph.D. in Structural Mechanics

  • University teaching (Kansas State and Cal Poly - SLO) since 1998. Teaching positions have been full time teaching (not researched focused but student learning focused).

  • Have maintained my own consulting engineering practice since 1994.

  • Full Time Dad.

  • Hobbies are golf, hiking, biking, and cooking. I try to surf but the knees don't cooperate.
