Khydeeja Alam Javid is an education policy advocate for the Advancement Project, a civil rights non-profit organization. Khydeeja has advocated on behalf of underserved children on a number of issues, including increasing the state budget for our schools, access to quality preschool programs, school facilities and a comprehensive education data system in California. Her work with the state legislature and the governor illustrate her broad understanding of education and state budget issues that affect our schools.

In an effort to seek educational opportunity, Khydeeja's family moved to California when she was a young child. After high school, Khydeeja graduated from the University of California, Berkeley where she was on the Dean's Honor List for academic achievement. Among other activities, Khydeeja served as a scholar intern for an education advocacy firm in Sacramento.

After graduation, Javid worked for an Assembly Member as a field representative in Central Coast and Silicon Valley, serving the community as a liaison between school districts, local government and state government.

After her marriage to Rihan Javid, a nearly 29 year resident of Lodi, she and husband settled in Lodi and look ahead to raising their family in the community. Khydeeja has been active in our community by serving as a mentor to high school students and helping them successfully apply for admission to colleges and universities and as a member and officer of many community and civic organizations. She recently helped organize the Youth Leadership Project, an annual scholarship program that engages youth to participate in state government and business experiences.

Khydeeja believes that the future of our community is closely tied to the success of our public schools in Lodi. She is dedicated to being a responsible community voice by providing a steady and innovative force for the fiscally responsible administration of our schools and recognizing the importance of parents and teachers working together for the benefit of our children.
