"I am a leader who has succeeded in making San Francisco's public schools more equitable for all students. I am committed to continuing this work, as all students deserve a real path to success." - Kim-Shree Maufas

As a current San Francisco School Board Commissioner, past President (2009), and Vice-President (2008) - I've had an opportunity to create policies and support programs that will change the future landscape of how we educate children in San Francisco's Public Schools.

Advanced placement and honors classes have become more accessible to all students.

We now require every student to complete an A-G program to graduate from high school, which makes them eligible to attend a UC school.

We have implemented restorative justice, to keep students in the classroom through disciplinary issues, because we know that even a few days out of the classroom can lead a student to missing a significant amount of school work, which diminishes their chances of success.

Along with the implementation of these policies, I voted to save hundreds of teachers from layoffs and to maintain critical services within the interpretation department. I voted in this manner because it is impossible to build and maintain a nurturing, inclusive and transparent learning environment for students and their families without teachers and interpretive services.

These are positive changes happening in our public schools and I believe my leadership has been crucial to this success and I want to continue my work in this positive shift for every student and family attending public schools in our city. That is why I am here today to ask for your endorsement to my re-election campaign.

I'll finish by stating that enrollment is up in the SFUSD after years of decline and the achievement gap for African American, Latino and Pacific Island students has decreased in the last four years.

Thank you so much for visiting my Campaign page and I'd appreciate your support and vote this November 2010. Sincerely, Kim-Shree
