Every day we turn on our faucet and clean, high-quality water flows for a multitude of uses. It takes good leadership, experience, and knowledge to efficiently and reliably deliver our water.

I'm DeAna Verbeke and I ask for your vote to retain me as your representative on the Helix Water District Board of Directors.

I'm a long-time resident and home-owner in La Mesa. My husband and I own and operate a 40-year old manufacturing business in El Cajon employing 50 people with annual revenue up to $10 million.

Running a business successfully takes energy, stamina, sacrifice, and heart, as well as knowledge and skill to keep every process operating smoothly through financial peaks and valleys. The experience I have gained from many years of business management well qualifies me to make the best decisions on your behalf as a Helix Water Board member. I will control spending to keep our water rates as low as possible.

Since my appointment to the Board in April 2005, I have studied and explored the many water issues and challenges facing California that may ultimately affect delivery of water to our neighborhood. It is important we proactively pursue alternative water sources such as desalination of ocean water, methods of water conservation, and recycling water for reuse to ensure an adequate water supply is available for our children and grandchildren. Our current water supply has been drastically reduced by drought and court-ordered restrictions.

As a Board Member of the Helix Water District, I am committed to listening to your needs and representing your voice with my vote. It is a privilege to serve my neighbors and I will not abuse that privilege.
