In our Vista charter preamble, it says we are "...committed to the belief that local government has the closest affinity to the people governed...."

That is something I believe.

The American spirit is a magnificent force, very resilient during good and bad times, if allowed to be free. By working together, we can accomplish more good and make the best of all opportunities and time.

We have a tradition of being a hard-working and creative people, and I would like to see everyone who wants the opportunity to start their own business here in Vista not be overwhelmed with red tape. I do not want to lose any businesses to other cities.

Things which will move us out of this bad economy:

1. A FREE MARKET
2. LIMITED GOVT
3. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

These foundational basics should also restore trust and encourage the artists, businesses, investors, inventors, and entrepreneurs among us to take risks again in the pursuit of an idea or a dream.

I had a business instructor who used to say "dare something worthy."

Maybe we can do that now, and in doing hard things maybe we will hand something much better to the next generation.
