Smart Voter Full Biography for Randy Horton

Candidate for
Board Member; Tri-City Healthcare District

This information is provided by the candidate

In the last 15 months, my mother-in-law visited Tri-City hospital 20 times due to failing health. I want to personally thank those physicians and nurses for their competent, compassionate care.

But during the last two years, doctors were told to shut up and keep their suggestions to themselves, while nurses received pink slips as a reward for their care. Obsolete buildings were given fresh coats of paint, like putting "Top Hats" on blown-out oil wells. Our hospital, hemorrhaging red ink, chose to sue rather than compete!

In the 1980s, El Centro Community Hospital found itself in similarly dire financial straits. As a board member, I worked hard to turn the hospital from the brink of insolvency to economic health within three years.

While serving on Tri-City's hospital board, I helped hire the administrator who provided our district with an unprecedented decade of financial health and organizational stability.

I have been a Certified Public Accountant for 28 years. For the last 22 years, I have served as a financial analyst with the Federal government. I have lived in Oceanside for 18 years, serving on the Planning Commission and the KOCT Board of Directors.

Horton hears you!
