Smart Voter Additional Endorsements for Matt Hall

Candidate for
Mayor; City of Carlsbad

This information is provided by the candidate

Retiring Mayor Bud Lewis Endorses Matt Hall. Below is his letter of endorsement.

--

Dear Citizens of Carlsbad

The City of Carlsbad has two critical needs. The first is a fix for dangerously high public employee pensions that can and will become a damaging financial burden to our community in the near future if we don't act now. The second is a need for rational, realistic financial decision-making that will keep Carlsbad fiscally strong.

Matt was elected to the City Council in 1994. He is a self-made man with a keen business sense. As Mayor, I placed him on key regional assignments including the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), the Encina Wastewater Board, and the California League of Cities. No one else has the depth and breadth of experience on virtually every topic that affects Carlsbad residents and businesses.

Matt Hall is not a politician who will promise anything for a vote. Before voting on costly projects, especially projects that may be driven by special interests that do not necessarily benefit the majority of citizens, Matt is the one person who puts you, the taxpayer, first.

Matt also supports and is working diligently towards pension reform. As part of this, I ask you to join us in our support for Proposition G on the November ballot.

Please beware of union supported candidates for they are beholden to them and cannot be fully expected to have the city's best interests in mind.

Matt is the only candidate who has the experience, the proven leadership, and the vision to be a Mayor for all of Carlsbad.

In November, elect Matt Hall, Mayor of Carlsbad.

Sincerely,
Bud Lewis
Mayor, City of Carlsbad
