Farrah Douglas has been a strong business and community leader in Carlsbad for the past 20 years. Her accolades include:

  • Farrah has been a small business owner in Carlsbad for the past 20 years. As the owner of CDS Printing Farrah has created jobs in Carlsbad, made payroll, paid taxes and has balanced budgets. She understands when it's time to expand and when it's time to contract.

  • In 2006 the Mayor of Carlsbad, Bud Lewis, and the Council Members appointed Farrah to the Planning Commission. In 2010 the Planning Commissioners unanimously voted to elect Farrah as their leader and the Chair of the Planning Commission. As the Chair Farrah has proven that not only can she work with people who have diverse and opposing opinions but she can also earn their respect and trust to be elected as their leader.

  • Farrah has served as the Chairwoman of the Board for Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce in 2000. During her term she established the Chamber University to offer affordable and flexible classes for entrepreneurs and their employees.

  • Since 1991 Farrah has served in various positions on the Board of Directors and the Executive Board at Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.

  • Farrah is the 2009 recipient of the prestigious San Diego Business Journal's "Women Who Mean Business" award not only for her business successes but also for her charitable and community service to Carlsbad.

  • Farrah has been serving as the president of "Five Women Who Care" since the June of 2009. This organization is dedicated to the protection of women and children's rights globally.

  • Farrah serves on the President's Advisory Board at Cal State San Marcos. She believes in the value of education and hopes to bring higher education to Carlsbad.

  • For the past four years she has been working as the president of Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Foundation Board, raising funds to help young disadvantaged high-school and college-bound students and Marines.

  • In a recent interview Farrah explained why she is running for Carlsbad City Council: "I'm running because I love Carlsbad and I'm passionate about the future of Carlsbad families. I know with my business experience and my understanding of our community through my civic involvements I'll be the very best Council Member I can be. My decisions will always be based on what's best for Carlsbad and Carlsbad families."

Farrah has a BA degree in English and French literature and a Master's Degree in philosophy and religious studies from SDSU.

Other Boards Farrah has served or currently is serving include: Casa de Amparo, Carlsbad Charitable Foundation, Aviara Community Fund, Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad and many others.

Farrah and her husband, Rick, have been married 35 years. Their son, Kevin, is an attorney working in the entertainment industry in Hollywood. He is married to his college sweetheart, Kelly, who is also an attorney.

At the present time, in addition to being the CEO of CDS Printing and serving as the Chair of the Planning Commission, Farrah hosts her own internet-based radio show, For the Good of Carlsbad. She also speaks at various clubs and organizations about human rights in third world countries.
